Berlin - The city that stole my heart

// It has been a while since we went to Berlin, but I haven't forgotten a single detail from that trip. I didn't have any expectations beforehand and I did the research only at the last moment. So we left without preparations towards Berlin. A funny coincidence was that a very good friend of mine Anna was also in the city at the same time, the world is so small sometimes.. :-)

// The first challenge was to find the hotel, but that went unexpectedly very smooth. We stayed at Motel-One (Spittelmarkt) in the middle of the centrum (Mitte). The room was small but very well decorated. The bed was so good that we could have slept all day literally, the shower was a rain shower so it was amazing to wake up properly under that. We had our breakfast around the corner, because I wasn't very impressed with the hotel's breakfast. I cannot do anything but to recommend the hotel! The staff spoke very good English and very super helpful and friendly. Also the bar was decorated in our style.

Berliini on todella iso kaupunki jossa on kyllä kaikille jotain mistä tykkää.

// Berlin is a huge city and has something for every taste. The metro was so easy to use and really worth taking. First day we just walked around but quickly figured that we could not last like that all weekend. So we bought a Welcome Card that allows you to use the metro and the bus as much as you want.

// There were plenty of restaurants with different menus around every corner. It was also so cheap there, even compared to Belgium! We had one night at a Thai restaurant and had starters, main course, a cocktail and many beers and paid only 34 euros. Each restaurant we stepped in to served delicious food so don't worry about making the wrong choice!

// Our absolute favorite area is Friedrichshain (from the ones we visited, still plenty of places to see!). It has dozens of bars, restaurants, awesome graffiti and underground clubs. A Russian touch can be seen very remarkably in the architecture. And typical for us, there was a beer festival going on during that weekend. We cannot just visit a city and not stumble across a beer festival... So we hit the line and went on tasting.
All the photos in this post are from Friedrichshain.

Come on join the joyride

Viime viikonlopun teemana oli nostalgia! Me huomattiin viikkoa ennen konserttia että Roxette on tulossa konsertoimaan Antwerpeniin.

UPEETA!

// The theme of last weekend was nostalgia! We noticed a week before the concert that Roxette was coming to Antwerp. We were very lucky to still get standing seats in front of the stage cuz it was sold out in the end. We are in that way very lucky that all the big names pass through Antwerp.

We started to go straight after work, waited in line and were nervous. Of course there were Finnish people behind us waiting to get in, you really can't get rid of them haha. Then we calmly got ourselves towards the hall and ended up in the second row. I loved attending a concert where the middle age was nearing 40 so there was no pushing or other lame behavior.

The concert was awesome! Marie and Per haven't changed a bit and the show was great. Marie's health isn't what it used to be but she sure as hell sings with the same power as before. We left with our ears ringing but big smiles on our faces. MAGNIFICENT!
