Moose in the city @ Antwerp

Jokin aika sitten Antwerpenissa aukesi uusi kauppa nimeltä Moose in the city. Siellä myydään Skandinaavialaisia merkkituotteita vaatteista lomamatkoihin kaukaiseen pohjoiseen. Luin lehdestä asiasta ja kauppahan piti heti mennä tutkimaan.

Kauppa sijaitsee pienellä sivukadulla Antwerpenin eteläosassa, joten en heti löytänyt sitä mutta pienen kävelyn jälkeen iski kauppa silmään. Kaupan ulkoasu on todella viehättävä ja heti ensimmäisenä tulee koivut vastaan kun astuu sisälle. Kaupassa on tavaraa ja PALJON. Siellä on vaatteita, huonekaluja, astioita, sisustusjuttuja, kirjoja, dvd:tä, laskettelukamoja, golf juttuja, kelloja, asusteita ja oma nurkkaus jopa pienellä "matkatoimistolle". Enimmäkseen näytti et ne tarjoaa matkoja Ruotsiin ja Norjaan mutta kyl sieltä saa Suomeenkin reissun buukattua. 

Merkeistä tärkeimpänä minulle oli tietysti Marimekko. Kuinka olin ilahtunut kun näin siellä nämä todella tutut kukkakuviot! Niitä oli laitettu todella kauniisti esille ja teki mieli heti ostaa kaikki kotiin, mutta en sitten kuitenkaan ostanut :-) Suunto on myös suomalaisena merkkinä hienosti esillä. Suuntohan tekee tunnetusti kaikkein parhaimmat urheilukellot (itselläni tosin Polar, suomalainen sekin kyllä!)

Vaatteissa on edustettuna sellasia merkkejä kuin Filippa K, Björn Borg ja Tiger of Sweden. Siinä kai ihan tunnetuimmat. Näin myös Eccon, Icepeakin ja Fjällrävenin tuotteita, mutta oli siellä myös monia monia muita.

// A little while ago a new concept store called Moose in the city opened in Antwerp. They sell Scandinavian brands from clothes to holidays to the far far North. I read about it in the paper and I just had to go check it out.

The store is located in a small side street deep in the south side of Antwerp so I didn't find it immediately but after walking around a while I caught a sight of the store. The facade of the store is attractive and the first thing you see when you enter are some typical Nordic trees. They sell A LOT of stuff, believe me. There are clothes, furnitures, tableware, decoration articles, books, dvds, ski stuff, golf stuff, watches, accessories and even a little corner with their own "travel agency". I saw the most trips they promote are to Sweden and Norway, but I'm sure you can book a trip to Finland as well. 

For me the most interesting brand was of course Marimekko (It's Finnish). I was so happy to see the oh so familiar flower print there. They were put out so nicely that I wanted to buy everything, but I didn't though :-) Suunto is also very well represented. It is a Finnish brand that make for example sport watches, that are one of the best in the world. I have a Polar watch myself, but it's also a Finnish brand, so it's ok :-)

They had clothes from such brands as Filippa K, Björn Borg and Tiger of Sweden. Those being the most famous I believe. I also saw things from Ecco, Icepeak and Fjällräven, and many many more. 

If you are coming to Antwerp, you should definitely visit it. You can find the store in
Ijzerenwaag 10-12, 2000 Antwerpen. Shop away!!

Sunny Sunday

Eilen oli niin hyvä ilma että ei millään voinut pysyä sisällä. Saatiin vähän esimakua kesästä kun mittari kohosi 23 asteeseen ja aurinko paistoi ihan siniseltä taivaalta. VIHDOIN!

Kävin kävelemässä paikallisessa puistossa oikein pidemmän kaavan mukaan. Puut eivät vielä ole ihan vihreitä mutta nuput ovat jo että parin viikon sisällä luulen että se puisto näyttää paljon kivemmalta. Oli siel silti kaunista :-) Oli oikein mukava tapa viettää sunnuntai päivä. Mulla oli jopa liikaa vaatetta, mutta ei sitä niin heti päästä irti farkuista kun on ollut niin pitkään niin kylmä!

P.S. Nyt on nenu kuin Petterillä konsanaan. :-D

// Yesterday we had such a great weather here that I just couldn't stay inside. We got a little pre-taste of summer when the temperature went up to 23 degrees and the sun was shining and the sky was blue. FINALLY!

I went to walk at the local park. The trees were not filled with green leaves yet but they were clearly coming so it won't take long anymore, a few weeks I suppose, and the park will look much nicer. But it was still pretty :-) It was a really nice way to spend my Sunday. I even had a little too much clothes on, but it's hard to let go of the jeans after it has been so cold for such a long time!

P.S. Now my nose is just like Rudolf's :-D

The weather is changing!

Lueskelin yhtä blogia ja siinä suomalainen tyttö joka asuu Portugalissa iloitsi kun katsoi heidän sääennusteita ja siitä innostuneena katsoin myös meidän sääennusteen. Eipä muuten näytä ollenkaan pahalta!

Talvi on ollut pitkä ja erikoisen kylmä ja luminen näille asteille joten se kevät aurinko ja lämpimät terassikelit ovat todella tervetulleita!! Mä meinasinkin lauantaina lueskella tiistain kokeeseen ja pitää sunnuntain ihan auki ja olla vaan ulkona tiedä missä, mutta mitä sen väliä kuhan olen ulkona!! Ihanaa <3 Muuten ensi viikko ei nyt ole niin lämmin mutta selkeästi voin ottaa jo kevät kamppeet käyttöön ja talvikamat työnnän kaappiin :-)

Kivaa viikonloppua! Toivottavasti teillä on siellä ruudun toisella puolella myös kivoja suunnitelmia viikonlopuksi!

//  I was reading a blog of a Finnish girl living in Portugal and she was so happy cuz she was watching the weather forecast for the upcoming days. Well I took the idea and went to see our forecast as well and boy it doens't look at all bad!!

The winter has been long and extraordinarily snowy for Belgium so a little bit of sun and warm weather is more than welcome. I want terrace weather! So I decided to study for my little test on Tuesday already on Saturday so I have the whole Sunday free to go out and be outside. Doesn't matter where I am going and what I am doing as long as I am outside. Awesome <3 Next week is not so warm but I am happy I can already take out my spring jackets and shoes and stuff away my winter gear. :-)

To the galaxy and back

Ostin vähän aikaa sitten uuden puhelimen kun mun iphone3 alkoi pettää aika pahasti. Se oli kauhean hidas ja siihen ei saanut enää uusia appejä. Mä olisin mielelläni jatkanut omenan linjalla, mutta epäröin kuitenkin. Olen ollut todella tyytyväinen kyllä edelliseen iphoneen joten normaalisti olisin ostanut sen vitosen miettimättä. Olen kuitenkin kuullut huhuja että iphonet eivät ole niin hyviä sen kolmosen jälkeen enää ja monet ovat käyttäneet puhelimiaan kerran tai kaksikin jo korjauksessa. Ja sitten kun miettii sitä hintaa (699 EUR) niin lopulta päädyin ihan toiseen merkkiin.

Minulla on Google Nexus 7 tabletti jossa on Android käyttöjärjestelmä. Olen tykännyt siitä kovin, se toimii sujuvasti ja kaikki appit toimii. Mitä tehdä? Noh menin nettiin ja googlasin top 10 parasta ja halvinta puhelinta kosketusnäytöllä ja tulokseksi tuli
1) Google Nexus 4 (ei myydä Belgiassa eikä Hollannissa, Suomessa se maksaa 500 euroa joka on puolet kalliimpi kuin sen pitäisi olla) 
2) Lumia 800 (en halua Noksua) 
3) Samsung Galaxy S III Mini

Menin kauppaan ja kokeilin tätä miniä ja hei sehän oli tosi hyväntuntuinen, tosi hyvä kamera, sopii kivasti käteen ja laukkuun (samankokoinen kuin iphone) ja näyttää hyvältä! Menin siis suoraan kassalle ja kotiin leikkimään. Vieläkin olen tyytyväinen ja voin suositella kyllä kaikille!! Hinnalla ei ole pilattu meinaa maksaa 299 EUR!

Suojaamaan mun pikkulelua ostin ebaysta kuoren, eikös olekin söpö :-)

//  A little while ago I bought a new phone because my old iPhone3 started to break down. It was getting really slow and the new apps didn't work anymore or I couldn't download any new ones. I would have loved to continue on the Apple road, but I was still doubting. I was very satisfied with my previous phone so normally I would have bought a new iphone without hesitating. I have heard rumours though that many iphones have already passed one or two repairs and the price (699 EUR) held me back.

I have a Google Nexus 7 tablet with Android operating system. I've liked it alot, it has worked perfectly and all the apps work. What to do? Well I opened google and typed "top 10 cheap smartphones" and these are the results
1) Google Nexus 4 (They don't sell it in Belgium or in Holland and in Finland it costs 500 EUR which is like the double it should be)
2) Lumia 800 (I don't want a Nokia now)
3) Samsung Galaxy S III Mini

I went to the store and tried this mini out and boy it felt good, looked good, had a great camera and was easy to use. I went straight to pay for it and went home to play with it. I'm still very happy with it and I could recommend it to everyone! The price is also not that bad, just 299 EUR !

To protect my little toy I bought a cover from eBay, isn't it cute :-)

Live music @ The Old Storehouse, Dublin

Lauantaina illan tavoitteena oli suunnata jonnekin päin Dublinia kuuntelemaan musiikkia. Sellasia paikkoja on monen monta, joten se ei ollut ongelma vaan se että kaikilla muilla oli sama idea kuin meillä! Löydettiin Temple Bar alueelta kuitenkin yksi alkuvaiheessa vielä kovinkin tyhjä baari jossa kolme miestä esitti irlantilaisia sekä kansainvälisiä biisejä irlantilaisella aksentilla. Päädyttiin The Old Storehouseen ihan keskellä kaupunkia. Kovinkin viihtyisä pieni pubi missä oli mahdottoman kalliit juomat. 

Ilta eteni ja aloin tunnistaa biisejä niin aluksi suunniteltu pieni pyrähdys kuuntelemaan musiikkia päättyi kuitenkin siihen että oltiin siellä sulkemisaikaan asti. Irlannissa baarit, pubit ja clubit menevät jo 3:30 kiinni (ainakin Temple bar alueella) joka ei mene näinkin belgialaistuneen suomalaisen kalloon sitten ollenkaan. Niin aikaisin! Belgiassa sentään saa, ken jaksaa, juhlia seitsemään asti aamulla ;-) 

Alla pieni video yhdestä osasta jossa yhdistyy kivasti suosittu irlantilainen biisi, vähän ysäriä ja lopussa pieni ylläri biiiskin :-) Mä olen ihan irkku musan fani, se on vaan niin pirteää!

// The goal of Saturday evening was to go see and listen to live music somewhere in Dublin. There are plenty of places where they play music, that wasn't the problem, but that everyone had the same idea as we did turned out to be the issue! We found a bar at the Temple Bar area that was quite empty in the beginning where three men played Irish and international songs with an Irish touch. We ended up at The Old Storehouse right in the middle of the city. It was quite a cosy little pub with extremely expensive drinks.

The evening went on and I started to recognise songs so the original plan of just popping in to listen to some music ended up in us staying there until closingtime! The bars, pubs and clubs in Ireland close already at 3:30h (at least in Temple Bar) which is just something a Belgian Finn cannot understand. So early! In Belgium, if you are up for it, you can party until 7 o'clock in the morning ;-)

Below a little video with a popular Irish song, 90's song and a surprise song at the end :-) I am a total fan of Irish music, it's just so cheery!
